Metal ruler is much more durable than plastic ones. You would like to have 12in and 36in. Cork backing is a nice extra feature.

Non essential but very useful tool. It helps to check corners and align your work, level the shelves and the ruler is very convenient to use when you work with small parts.

Perfect direct cut

It is easy to cut cardboard along the ruler, but you may have issues with the backside of cardboard it has a tendency to jam and to become torn on edges. To avoid that cut in 2-3 light cuts. If you have thick cardboard you need to make more cuts. If you want to cut in one move put your cardboard near the table edge and  cut with a long blade all way through the cardboard surface sawing up and down.

Perfect circle cut

Cutting circle can be a real challenge especially if you need a lot of them to make a bunch of strong wheels. But circle cutting tool is something that you can easily make using cardboard itself.

How to cut paper bleed

Paper bleed may be trick to cut at first but I have found it very useful in a cardboard crafting.

  • Paper bleed hides cardboard edges and makes them solid and smooth, nicely finished.
  • Paper bleed holds hot glue on place.
  • Paper bleed works as combination square and helps to make straight corners.
